FIT (Focused Instructional Time)
As part of our third grade curriculum, we have FIT (Focused Instructional Time) built into each day as a way to meet the needs of all learners. Teachers meet each week to examine data collected by both formal and informal assessments in order to determine the appropriate course of instruction for our students. We then group students with similar needs for this 40 minute block of intense instruction. FIT assignments are fluid, and may change every couple of weeks, or last as long as a few months, based on assessment data.
Please ask your child who their FIT teacher is for the current time period. Below you will find the important skills that each third grade teacher will be focusing on for the duration of this FIT session in her classroom. Please make note that just because your child is in a particular teacher's homeroom class, this does not necessarily mean that he or she will have that same teacher for their FIT class placement.
As always, please let us know any questions or concerns that you may have along the way!
